Houston - April 11, 2012
If you want to get close to some of the greatest cars on the planet, be photographed in Beatle George Harrison's legendary Aston Martin DB5, experience all the theatre of a world-class collector car auction, enjoy the facilities of one of the best resorts in Texas and help to raise some serious money for charity, head for Montgomery this spring. Organizers of the inaugural Concours d'Elegance of Texas are gearing up alongside event partner Worldwide Auctioneers to play host to one of the biggest vintage motoring and luxury lifestyle events in the state at the award winning La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, voted the number one resort in Texas by the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine Reader's Choice Awards. The Concours d'Elegance of Texas is scheduled for Sunday, May 6, a spectacular gathering of vintage motorcars, racecars and antique motorcycles, assembled from collections across the country to be judged for appearance, originality and turnout. Worldwide Auctioneers' Houston Classic Auction is on May 5, an event that has been attracting a global audience of enthusiasts for the past decade. Over 100 of the finest cars will line up to go under the auction hammer, including some spectacular examples from the estate of late Houston attorney and car collector, John O'Quinn.

The Concours d'Elegance of Texas is a 501 (c) 3 and is proud to support Texas Children's Hospital and Collectors Foundation as its primary charities. Texas Children's Hospital is world renowned for pediatric health care, education and research, consistently receiving top rankings from U.S. News and World Report as one of the best children's hospital in the nation. The Collectors Foundation funds education and training for the collector car community, supporting young people and the future of the hobby. Concours organizers have confirmed that one of the consignments lined up for Worldwide Auctioneers Houston Classic Auction on Saturday May 5 is a one off 1963 Volkswagen Super Beetle Custom Street Rod, kindly donated by a well-known Houston collector. Worldwide will auction the Beetle on behalf of the Concours d'Elegance of Texas during Saturday's sale, with both Texas Children's Hospital and the Collectors Foundation benefiting from the sale. Donations of additional cars or motorcycles are still welcomed by event organizers and donations are tax deductible.

Anyone who ever dreamed of being photographed in a sports car that once belonged to a member of the world's most famous rock band should buy tickets now. George Harrison's celebrated 1965 Aston Martin DB5 will make its U.S. debut at the Concours, also helping to raise money for charity. The anonymous Texas collector who made global news when he won the international bidding war for the legendary Beatle's sports car at a London auction has confirmed that the car will be on display for all to enjoy. Spectators will even get a once in a lifetime opportunity to be photographed in it, in return for donations to his chosen charity, Faith Comes By Hearing, an organization that produces the Military BibleStick, a miniature device that allows soldiers to listen to the Bible in the field. Requests for these devices from every branch of the military are inundating the charity and there are still many thousands of U.S. troops who are yet to be supplied.
